Emily understands what it takes to raise a family. She understands what happens when you lose your job through lay-off or economic changes and the stress if can cause and the effort needed to do what is needed to keep joy in the house while keeping a roof over your head, the lights on and food on the table. She also understands what it takes to pull yourself up by your boot straps and get going again, learn a new skill, work on your personal development and become stronger through the faith and perseverance of never giving up.
Emily also understands what it's like to be in a position to help others with the blessings she has been afforded.
Emily will work tirelessly for her neighbors so that opportunities and 2nd chances remain high. She will also use her fiscally conservative nature to discover ways to keep or put more money in the pockets of the residents of Michigan, through reduced taxes or readjusting spending to prevent new taxes.
Additionally, Emily knows how important it is for our children to be educated and that the laws that explain parents' rights in that education. Emily will continue her work to preserve the parents rights in family, education and healthcare.
The first role in government is to provide safety for it's citizens. That safety is in the form of rights and freedoms to speak, worship, defend your family, assemble, equal protection, and justice. Emily has worked hard to understand the value of safety for her family, employees and neighbors and she has and will continue to fight for the ability for every resident to live in safety. Safety for one person cannot mean lack of safety for another--there must be equal levels of safety for all the citizens of Michigan. We do not need new definitions of safety, rather we need to look at our Constitution and ensure that people are following and applying the rules and laws well.
We do have the right to worship and live differently than our neighbor--we do not have the right to impose or disallow another's rights for ours. Emily will continue to uphold that truth.
Every elected officeholder and every public servant takes an oath to do no harm and to defend our state and nation from all forms of tyranny and terrorism, both domestic and foreign. Emily will stand up to those who would bring harm to others.
Peace comes from trust--trust that those serving and working for you will continue to look after you and others, not work for their own personal agendas. Emily's experience in corporate America and in running her own company has given her a unique perspective that she will bring to Lansing. She is not afraid to speak up and be strong so that the residents of Michigan can focus on the issues they need to and not always feel they have to babysit the elected officials they hired.
