As a wife, mother and business leader, I know the value of putting families first.
In serving Westland as City Councilwoman, I have a critically thinking, common sense approach and I will work so that each of us can live with the peace, prosperity, pursuit of happiness and freedoms our forefathers had the wisdom to establish. It's is about listening to residents and the community at large and knowing when to move swiftly and when to slow down, so that the rights and freedoms afforded us are maintained.
My husband, Bill, and I have been married for 27 years and have three children (23, 15, 13). We have lived in Westland since 2009. This is the 3rd time I have lived in Michigan, so overall I have lived in Michigan for over 20 years, with over half of those years in Westland. Both of my parents were born in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University. Recently, I decided to return to school to finish my degree as well as take every political science class Schoolcraft College offers. I had 3 years of school in my younger, pre-child years and will finish my Associates of Arts/Liberal Arts degree in May 2025.
I grew up in New York State and spent nearly every summer in Michigan visiting family--and yes, Westland was my vacation spot for many years! (I remember the arcade and shopping at Hudson's at Westland mall). It is an honor to now to serve the people of this city.
We are members of Peace Lutheran Church in Livonia and I have Biblical view of government. I believe the primary role of government is simple--to protect it's law-abiding citizens from those who would break laws or do them harm. Additionally, I believe our U.S. and Michigan Constitutions support a small government allowing us all the freedoms to live peacefully.
My education and business experience has provided me the wisdom to identify the root of the issue and discern the best solution to prevent future problems. I believe in systems and processes that provide the best possible results. I also believe in the necessity for oversight in the budget to ensure there is no waste in expenses or spending, while achieving equal or greater results.
I also believe we must do better in the area of mental health and our justice system and will champion good governance in these areas.
I believe that a key part of my job on City Council is the trust my district gives me to make the right and good decision to best serve them. I value the honor to serve and the trust given to me.
